Innovative Vegetation Management Program Saves Money, Protects Environment and Improves Safety
Calhoun County Highway Department Earns National Recognition
The Calhoun County Highway Department (CCHD) developed an innovative and data-driven strategy to keep county roadsides clear of unwanted vegetation, while improving safety for drivers. The CCHD also protects the roadside environment as a natural area. The agency manages to meet these goals on a limited county budget.
"Our strategy and implementation of best practices have been key to huge cost savings for Calhoun County," said Brian Conary. "By holding ourselves to the highest standards in roadside vegetation management, we've built a program that our residents hold in the highest esteem, and we're proud of this national recognition of our hard work."
