National "Making A Difference" Awards Highlight Achievements on America's Highways
San Antonio, TX/November 6, 2008 -
National awards announced today at Noon CST recognize highway project and organizational teams that are "Making A Difference" by emphasizing excellence in the principles of quality improvement. Winning teams successfully improved quality or customer service related to highway planning, project delivery, highway maintenance, safety, congestion management, workforce training, environmental stewardship or highway operations. A group of transportation experts selected the award winners, under the auspices of the National Partnership for Highway Quality (NPHQ), a one-of-a-kind coalition of highway stakeholders from federal and state government, private industry and academe.
These suggestions have been developed by members of the NPHQ
Awards and
Technology Subcommittee based on their reviews of previous years' nominations
and the observation that some nominations could have been made stronger
by giving more attention to addressing the specified criteria. This information
is provided to help preparers focus on preparing nominations that properly
respond to the Call for Nominations and that are highly competitive. If
questions arise about preparing or submitting a nomination, please contact
Executive Director Bob Templeton.
