Project Delivery Webinar Series

Team Findings and Recommendations from NCHRP 20-68A Domestic Scan on “Best Practices in Project Delivery Management”
Hosted by FHWA and AASHTO with support provided by NCHRP

The Scan Team will be joined by representatives of host states to share and discuss findings.  Inter-active Participation by State DOTs, Local Agencies, FHWA, and other practitioners  is encouraged.

Overview of Scan Results
The team will provide background on the Scan, explain how the report was organized, and highlight key aspects and benefits of many Best Practices during this session.  Participants are encouraged to explore these Best Practices further through various topical sessions available below.

Project Management – This area included the wide array of management activities associated with project delivery, from organizational issues, division of roles and responsibilities, integration of agency functions with project development activities, and personnel issues.

Contracting Practices – Of interest to the team was:  how tools were used to measure and analyze management information; how metrics were used to influence behaviors; levels of transparency of measurement systems, and other ways in which agencies were using measurement to track and adjust behavior.

Performance Measures – The team sought innovative practices with demonstrable results.  Of particular interest were the systems and tools used and why they were adopted and how they were integrated into the project delivery/management process.  A topic of further interest was the extent of outsourcing practiced among the states.

Community Involvement – The team sought Best Practices that lead to more effective project delivery.  Community involvement activities and their outcomes were of interest from project inception through construction.
